Carmine’s opened in 1972 as a meat market with Italian-born butcher Carmine Giardini as the owner. Today, a premiere gourmet market with prime meats, seafood and imported delicacies from Italy and beyond plus two restaurants are crammed under one roof. The restaurants serve predictable Italian-American fare, using many house-made ingredients. Professionals lunch on sandwiches and pizza at the casual eatery. Locals pour into La Trattoria, the main restaurant, to dine on rich pastas and grilled meats and seafood on the terrace overlooking the marina. Both the restaurant and market stock boutique wines from select vineyards and Carmine’s private label with nine varietals from Italy and California.
